In the photo posted by Burakovsky from inside the DC United locker room, Travis Boyd’s left foot can be seen encased in a protective boot.
According to Mike Vogel, Boyd suffered an injury blocking a Vince Dunn shot late in the Caps’ preseason game against the Blues.
Here’s another look.
The Capitals have not been specific about Boyd’s injury, stating that it is a lower-body injury and that Boyd’s status is week-to-week.
Todd Reirden said yesterday that he does not believe Boyd will require surgery.
Reirden doesn’t think Travis Boyd needs surgery on his undisclosed “lower-body” injury, but it might be too soon to tell. They’re evaluating it. Presumably swelling and whatnot needs to go down.

With Boyd unable to make the opening night roster, an open roster spot is open for another forward. It also cements Nic Dowd as the fourth-line center to start the season.
