First round of cuts. As expected with junior players and Euros returning to their respective teams. Was impressed with Riley Sutter last night. https://t.co/FXPiX1PY12

One name that might surprise people on this list is 2018 first-round pick Alexander Alexeyev. He impressed head coach Todd Reirden, and in his postgame press conference Tuesday, Reirden mentioned he “continues to show his ability to play the game at a number of different ways,” including “executing passes that normally guys that age and that size don’t do as defensemen.”
Alexeyev was dominant in the rookie tournament before training camp. His highlights included a fight, a slick shootout goal, and a nifty assist to Maximillian Kammerer. He finished with four assists, the highest of any player.
During Tuesday night’s preseason game against Boston, Alexeyev also recorded an assist on Riley Barber’s first-period goal.
Riley Barber deflects in the Alexeyev shot for the goal. It's 1-1.
