Ohhhhh baby did we want this win and the Washington Capitals not only delivered, but have also clinched the NHL’s Metropolitan Division. The two points were awarded to the Capitals who still have three more regular season games to go, including one tomorrow at 8PM. Let’s crank this out. No days off.
Were you sweatin’ about that TJ Oshie injury? Well he reassured us that his lower-body injury was no biggie and scored the first goal of the game to put the Capitals up 1-0. In sad news, Jay Beagle took an upper-body injury and was promptly directed to the locker room. Beagle did not return for the remainder of the game.
The lead was doubled during the second period when Dmitry Orlov scored his 10th goal of the season, bringing the Capitals up 2-0 at the start of the third period. 13 seconds into the third and Tom Wilson brings the score up 3-0 with a perfect tip in. *kisses fingertips like an Italian chef* Oh, Hornqvist scored at some point. Who cares.
Caps beat Pens 3-1.
- Have no fear, TJ Oshie isn’t hurting anymore and quickly scored the first goal of the game. Maybe he just needed a lil’ rest time.
- In the first period, Philipp Grubauer came up big with 11 saves, including a few tricky penalty kills. He looked stellar and ended the night with 36 saves.
- Jay Beagle suffered an upper-body injury in the first period and it was quickly determined by the Capitals that he would not return for the rest of the game. Woof (literally because…Beagle).
- The women’s NCAA championship was tonight and Notre Dame won with a final 3 pointer. It was wild and I physically cannot stop watching it.

- Dmitry Orlov scored his 31st point of the season. A true hero.

- Tom Wilson officially doubled his goal total last season tonight. He scored his 14th on a gorgeous deflection.
- Did I mention Philipp Grubauer yet? Absolutely STELLAR in his 100th NHL game. Seems like milestones, especially in the Alex Ovechkin department, are his thing now.
Tonight will be Grubauer’s 100th game played. And this coincidence is just silly:
He will now have been in net for Ovechkin’s 1,000th game, 400th goal, 484th goal (to be top-scoring Russian), 500th goal and 600th goal.

- There was no Joe B suit of the night. You know why. I will not name the reasons why.
