The Washington Commanders got a nice surprise from their hockey-playing pals across town.
The Washington Capitals sent the NFL team their new Hometown Remix jerseys, featuring the team’s Capitol Dome logo on blue with marble textures and bronze stripes.
In photos and video posted by the Commanders, Jayden Daniels, Tress Way, Sonny Styles, and Sam Cosmi showed off their new blue gear, including hats, while at their training facility in Ashburn, VA.
“Yeaaaaaah,” Way could be heard saying in the video. “Let’s go Caps.”
The Hometown Remix jerseys are the latest example of the two teams’ growing relationship.
In December 2022, the Capitals sent their Reverse Retro 2.0 jerseys to several Commanders players, including Taylor Heinicke, Daron Payne, and Jonathan Allen. Heinicke later wore his Tom Wilson sweater during a nationally televised interview with Colin Cowherd.
The Capitals returned the love in January 2025 when Alex Ovechkin and his teammates arrived at Capital One Arena wearing Commanders gear ahead of the football team’s playoff showdown against the Detroit Lions. Ovechkin sported a Jayden Daniels jersey, while Wilson and John Carlson represented Bobby Wagner and Terry McLaurin.
Three months later, Daniels and several teammates ttended the Capitals’ playoff game against Montreal, where the rookie quarterback met Ovechkin and received a signed, game-used stick from the NHL’s all-time leading goal-scorer.
The Commanders returned the favor once again in December, when Sam Hartman, Sam Cosmi, and John Bates showed up for an NFL game against the Minnesota Vikings wearing jerseys featuring Ovechkin, Dylan Strome, and Wilson.
While the Commanders showed their love for the hometown hockey team, one Baltimore Ravens player did as well before the team’s Thursday Night Football game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ethan Burke, a Pasadena, MD. native, rocked an Alex Ovechkin rookie year Screaming Eagle jersey walking into the locker room.
