Hockey fans rarely get an opportunity to tailgate before games, so when a game moves to a football stadium with outdoor parking lots, you need to take advantage. Before the Caps take on the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, RMNB is hosting a tailgate and meetup for friends who are attending the game (weather permitting).
The tailgate was helped organized by RMNB crashers – members of our exclusive Slack chat channel for Patreon supporters – but it’s open to everyone. We’d love for you to stop by and introduce yourself, share a drink, toss some cornhole bags, and take selfies with the brand new RMNB flags printed by none other than Steve Knuble, brother of former Capitals forward Mike Knuble! Make sure to tag us on Twitter (@russianmachine) or Instagram (@rmnb_blog).
Who: RMNB crashers and friends
What: #RMNBTailgate
When: 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Where: Somewhere in the stadium parking lot. Look for the flags!
Why: If you need to ask, maybe don’t come.
We’ll have some tailgating games, a few light snacks to share and limited grill space upon which you’re welcome to cook your own meat if you can fit it (heh). Bring your own beverages; we’ll have some coolers you can stash stuff in. If you bring enough to share you’ll get priority.
We don’t yet know exactly where we’ll be, but we’re planning to try to get in the Blue Lot, which is closer to the NHL’s pregame festivities adjacent to Cedar Park Road. We’ll update everyone on Twitter when we’re set up, and you should be able to find us by looking for the flags. RMNB’s Cara put together this artist’s rendering of what it will look like because I don’t want to fly away trying to raise the actual flags outside right now to take a picture.
And here’s a map from the NHL to get a lay of the land.

You don’t need a ticket to the game to stop by the tailgate party, but there are still game tickets available if you want to stick around. We’ll be wrapping up the festivities by about 6:30 PM so we can all make it into the stadium for the game. Come hang!
RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
