Edmonton Oilers forward Patrick Maroon morphed into every hockey fan during the Oil’s game against the San Jose Sharks, Monday.
After a second period scrum, Maroon and Brent Burns became tangled behind the net. While laying on the ice, Maroon reached over to a fallen Burns and stroked his beard three times.
I know you’re probably thinking that you can’t be reading this right or I’m making it up. No, this is really an actual thing that happened in an NHL game.

But wait until you see what happened next.
8:23 into the very next period, Patrick Maroon would hammer a slap shot from the circle past Martin Jones to give the Oilers a 4-2 lead.
The Oilers won 5-3. Maroon’s tally ended up being the game-winning goal.
