Wednesday morning, the Capitals announced that they have signed forward Alex Chiasson to a one year contract. Chiasson, who originally was invited to Caps Training Camp on a professional try out, will make league minimum, or $660,000 this year. Chiasson played for the Calgary Flames last season, where he tallied 24 points (12 G, 12A). Chiasson has 50 goals and 56 assists in his career, playing mostly fourth line minutes in his time with Ottawa, Dallas and Calgary.
With this signing and the waiving of Chandler Stephenson], the Capitals look to have pretty much solidified their 23-man roster for the start of the 2017-18 season.
During practice Wednesday morning, Chiasson skated on the third line with Brett Connolly and Lars Eller, in Tom Wilson’s spot. Wilson was suspended four games Tuesday for boarding Samuel Blais.
