Here’s Braden Holtby and Logan Thompson twinning while guest-coaching together at Capitals Development Camp

Washington Capitals general manager Chris Patrick teased a “really interesting” guest coach at development camp over the weekend. And he did not disappoint.

Recently-retired forward, Alex “Chaser” Chiasson, returned to the ice at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in Caps gear for the first time since winning the Stanley Cup with the team in 2018.

While Chiasson’s presence was exciting, Patrick took it one step further, making a social media meme a reality with two other camp counselors.

Braden Holtby, who has been a Capitals guest coach since 2024, was joined on the ice by current Caps goaltender Logan Thompson, his doppelgänger.

The two incredibly talented goalies, wearing similar Capitals sweats, could only be distinguished by the most subtle of differences, such as the branding on their gloves and the style of their navy blue hats.

Here is the ‘Spider-Man pointing’ GIF for no particular reason.

The Stanley Cup-winning goalies were seen giving pointers to the team’s prospect netminders at camp — Chase Anderson, Antoine Keller, Nicholas Kempf, Rasmus Korhonen, and Jackson Unger — during the first day of on-ice activities. For Thompson, the honor was a bit of a full-circle moment as he got his professional start as a player at a Capitals development camp in 2018.

Other notable coaches to take part in the skate included former Capitals goaltender Olie Kolzig, who now serves as a professional development coach.

Hershey’s assistant coaches Patrick Wellar and Nick Bootland helped put the prospects through their paces, while Wendy Marco challenged the budding Caps skaters with creative skating drills on the opposite sheet of ice.
