Justin Williams is doing things already for the Hurricanes, and it’s not even October. The former Cap scored in his first appearance since returning to Carolina in free agency this offseason.
Three minutes and 46 seconds into the Hurricanes’ second preseason game at the Tampa Bay Lightning, Williams lit the lamp on the power play to start the scoring. Trevor Carrick and Teuvo Teraveinen assisted on the marker.

“That was just a really good shot by Willy,” Carolina center Victor Rask said to the Hurricanes’ senior writer Michael Smith. “He’s scored a lot of goals, so it’s going to be fun to play with him.”
Teraveinen would add another power play goal in the second period to extend the lead to 2-0. The Canes would go on to win the game 2-1.
Williams finished the night with a hit and three blocks to go along with his goal in 17:13 of ice time.
Carolina is now 2-0-0 in the preseason. The Hurricanes and the Lightning will match up again Wednesday, this time in Raleigh.
We hope there’s many more goals to come, Justin. Just not against the Caps.
It just looks right. #CARvsTBL pic.twitter.com/V1VK0IppIv
