It’s really late, the DC snow forecast is a whole bowl full of N-O-P-E, the Wizards won on a buzzer beater, and the Caps just lost for the third time in a row.
Jakub Vrana got on the board with a man advantage tally after a fantastic feed from Kevin Shattenkirk, but the lead was short lived as Marian Gaborik slammed home a rebound to make the game 1-1. The Caps would end the first with 4 total shots.
TJ Oshie would not wait long to restore the Capitals lead, scoring less than a minute into the second period. Unfortunately, Anze Kopitar would again level things on the power play soon after and we ended 40 minutes locked at two goals apiece.
Adrian Kempe’s first NHL goal was a huge one, putting the Kings up 3-2. Jeff Carter empty netter.
Kings beat Caps 4-2.
- Apparently Jarome Iginla is on the Kings and is wearing #88. That’s interesting.
- Kevin Shattenkirk is a power play maestro and Jakub Vrana is now witness to this.
- Speaking of Shattenkirk, he got a delay of game penalty for firing the puck out of play, but the puck ended up on the ice after hitting something near the Kings bench, so I assume the Illuminati is involved because the game was played in LA and he still ended up in the box.
- I don’t agree with this sentiment about the Pittsburgh Penguins captain, but I will admit this is somewhat funny.
- The Capitals must have been lagging pretty hard with how high their PING was in the second period.
- Good news. The revamped top six actually had fantastic games when it comes to possession. That’s our best tool to predict future goals.
- Bad news. The revamped bottom six was not nearly as good and the 4th line was actually downright horrendous at even strength.
- Shattenkirk took 3 minors. His last, of the charging variety, was horribly timed and pretty stupid. We like you ON the ice Kevin, try to stay there.
- I had the Kings broadcast for this one. Someone please let their play-by-play guy know that it is not pronounced “Grubb-auer”. More guy from Despicable Me, less disgusting bug creature.
- TJ Oshie tied his career high in goals with a great follow up on a Marcus Johansson drive.
- Alex Ovechkin is never going to score again.
