The Washington Capitals could have several trade partners for Ivan Miroshnichenko as the organization looks for a new home for the young Russian forward.

According to The Fourth Period’s David Pagnotta, the Chicago Blackhawks, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Seattle Kraken, Calgary Flames, and Los Angeles Kings have all shown interest in acquiring Miroshnichenko.

The interested clubs will bid against one another as Capitals general manager Chris Patrick and Miroshnichenko’s agent, Dan Milstein, work toward finding a resolution.

On Wednesday’s edition of DFO Insider with Jeff Marek and Pagnotta, the insiders discussed the latest developments around Miroshnichenko, whom Washington has reportedly given permission to explore a trade.

“A lot of teams out west, a lot of teams in the Pacific,” Pagnotta said of the interest in the 22-year-old winger.

The Capitals would reportedly prefer to move Miroshnichenko out of the Eastern Conference, particularly outside their division. The bigger question remains what the Capitals would want in return.

Marek said Washington’s asking price for Miroshnichenko is “at least a first-round pick.”

That follows Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman comparing the situation to Egor Chinakhov’s move last year, when he went from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Pittsburgh Penguins for forward Danton Heinen, a 2026 second-round pick, and a 2027 third-round pick.

As previously reported, the Capitals are willing to trade Miroshnichenko, but only for a legitimate return. The team isn’t interested in moving him just to clear a roster spot or avoid placing him on waivers, since they know he will not clear without being claimed.

Miroshnichenko has appeared in just three games for Washington this season, scoring one goal while averaging 11:03 of ice time. He has spent much of his professional career developing with the AHL’s Hershey Bears, and the Capitals’ crowded forward group has made it difficult for him to secure a regular spot in the lineup.
