Every November 11, America observes Veteran’s Day, a holiday that honors military veterans. In a subtle gesture to show respect to those who have served, the Capitals will be wearing American flag stickers on the back of their helmets tonight in their game against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Meanwhile the Blackhawks will wear camouflage warm-up jerseys, while coaches, players, and broadcasters will wear camouflage ties. Each warm-up jersey will be autographed and auctioned off online, in addition to the ties worn by coaches, broadcasters and players (which will be accompanied by an autographed photo). The funds raised will benefit the USO of Illinois.
The Blackhawks will also have a special Veterans Day ceremonial puck drop and recognize 75 veterans who have served the United States from World War II through the most recent conflicts in the Middle East on-ice during the anthem. Additionally, U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Milley (who dropped the puck last week at Verizon Center) and USO of Illinois President and CEO Alison Ruble will introduce six veterans from the five military services spanning from World War II to the present for a Veterans Day commemoration on-ice during the first intermission.
Veterans will also get 25% all Blackhawks gear this weekend.
