Capitals raise nearly $60,000 for families of fallen servicemen on Veteran’s Day
The Capitals honored the armed forces at Monday night’s game, which coincided with Veteran’s Day. The annual Military Appreciation Night featured the US Army Chorus Quartet singing the national anthem and special programming during intermissions to celebrate the men and women who have served.
During warm-ups before the game, Capitals players wore dark green, military-inspired jerseys, which were then auctioned along with autographed sticks and pucks to benefit TAPS (The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors). TAPS is a nonprofit which offers compassionate care to families grieving the loss of a loved one in the armed forces.
By the end of the night, the Capitals had raised $59,675 for TAPS.
