Capitals forward TJ Oshie is a game-time decision for tonight’s matchup against the Philadelphia Flyers, and it may be due to an awkward hit he absorbed during the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday.
In the final minute of the second period of Sunday’s game, Oshie attempted to carry the puck into the offensive zone. While Ryan Murray and Matt Calvert tried to force a turnover, Brandon Dubinsky hit Oshie awkwardly along his side and back.
Oshie waved to the bench for a shift change and then went back to the locker room.
Here’s a slo-mo look at the hit. You can see Dubinsky and Oshie’s skates get intertwined during the hit. Oshie’s legs V out.
Oshie returned to the ice in the third period, scoring the Caps’ third goal of the game and his 24th of the season. But he didn’t participate in today’s morning skate with the team, and Barry Trotz said he’d be a game-time decision against the Flyers. The Washington Post’s Isabelle Khurshudyan had the details:
No T.J. Oshie at morning skate. It's a maintenance day for him, and he's a game-time decision, per team spokesman.

Trotz didn't elaborate much on Oshie's injury. Said he got twisted up in the last game, and they're being cautious.

Oshie already missed two games last week due to the flu. Missing another due to injury will really make it difficult to hit that 30-goal mark, which he otherwise definitely would be able to hit.
