The NHL announced the television broadcasting schedule of its national partners for the 2023-24 season on Wednesday.
The Washington Capitals will feature on national TV 14 times next season, beginning with their Opening Night, home opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins on October 13. That 7:30pm season-commencing game will be aired live on both ESPN+ and Hulu.

Turner Sports announced more of its NHL broadcast team on Tuesday and one Capitals media member is getting a huge opportunity. Tarik El-Bashir, who has contributed coverage of the Caps over the last decade via The Athletic, Washington Post, and NBC Sports Washington, has been hired as a contributor.
“I’m so excited to be a part of this amazing team!” El-Bashir said in a tweet. “Thanks to everyone at Turner for the opportunity. And, yes, I’m still going to be covering the Caps full-time for The Athletic. Let’s go!”
Tarik joins Jackie Redmond and Jennifer Botterill as the other Turner Sports NHL contributors.

The NHL has come to an agreement with a company for its second TV rights package. And it’s a surprise.
According to the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand, Turner Sports has agreed to a seven-year deal with the NHL and will pay around $225 million per season for the league’s “B” package. Over the life of the deal, Turner Sports will pay $1.58 billion to the league.
