Kansas City Current’s Jaycie Johnson rocks Alex Ovechkin jersey before NWSL game

The Kansas City Current of the National Women’s Soccer League played the North Carolina Courage in NWSL Challenge Cup action on Wednesday. KC would fall 2-1 to the Courage, but, for us, there was a more notable highlight from the evening: Current forward Jaycie Johnson and her gr8 fashion statement pregame.

The Missouri native donned an Alex Ovechkin red alternate jersey as she and her teammates prepared to get ready for their warmup.

Alex Ovechkin congratulates Washington Spirit for winning first NWSL championship

Alex Ovechkin became an investor of the National Women Soccer League’s Washington Spirit over the offseason. Six months later, the team is champions of the league.

The Spirit beat Chicago Red Stars 2-1 at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky. The championship is the Spirit’s first ever NWSL title and comes in their ninth season as an organization.

Washington Spirit to play for NWSL championship on Saturday

Alex Ovechkin has a chance to bring another championship to DC, though this time as an investor in the Washington Spirit.

On Saturday, the Washington Spirit face off against the Chicago Red Stars for the NWSL title.

Washington Spirit gain several notable investors including Chelsea Clinton and Jenna Bush Hager

The Washington Spirit, D.C’s National Women’s Soccer League team, has a new group of investors heading into their ninth season and you might have heard of them.

According to the Washington Post’s Steven Goff, Chelsea Clinton, daughter of President Bill Clinton, and Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of Geroge W. Bush, are among those new investors. Maryland-native Dominique Dawes, a former Olympic gymnast best known for being the first African American woman to win an individual medal in gymnastics, and Briana Scurry, the former U.S World Cup goalkeeper, are also investing in the Spirit.
