Black Lives Matter mural painted outside Capital One Arena

Capital One Arena now has some beautiful and inspiring artwork on its facade.

Four days after Black Lives Matter was painted on 16th Street leading up to the White House, a sports-themed mural was painted a few blocks away on the side of Capital One Arena. The painting on wooden boards features the words Black Lives Matter with Black athletes playing hockey and basketball.

The Capital One Arena Twitter account published four photos with the caption, “We love celebrating beautiful art – inside the building and outside. We stand with you.”

DC artist creates mural commemorating Alex Ovechkin’s 700 career goals

The Washington Capitals commissioned local artist Shawn Perkins (website) to create a mural celebrating Alex Ovechkin scoring 700 goals. The painting is located at Bar Deco, which is a block away from Capital One Arena (717 6th St NW).

“We ❤️ our @capitals and we’re not afraid to show it,” Bar Deco wrote on Instagram. “Do as they said and stop by and snap a picture with our art by @sptheplug honoring @aleksandrovechkinofficial’s historic 700 goals.”

Braden Holtby and wife Brandi take photo in front of rainbow Capitals mural

During the 2019 Stanley Cup playoff run, the Capitals commissioned a handful of artists to paint murals around the DC metro area. Each mural was done in a unique style, from portraiture to abstract, and the art blended the personality of the city and Capitals hockey together.

The murals have been snapped by lots of people, but today the king and queen of the Capitals, Braden and Brandi Holtby, took a photo in front of the mural in Adams Morgan.

Capitals mural painted outside H Street bar in DC

As the Washington Capitals gear up and prepare for the playoffs, so too does the city of Washington DC.

For instance, this awesome new Capitals mural popped up outside of H Street Country Club, a bar and restaurant located on DC’s H St NE. The mural was commissioned by the Caps and created by artist Matt Corrado.

A graffiti artist painted a mural of Braden Holtby near the goaltender’s hometown of Lloydminster

After the Washington Capitals historic Stanley Cup win, fans across the world continue to express how much the team’s success means to them through some incredibly creative avenues.

We’ve seen Stanley Cup tributes as tattoos, paintings, NASCAR helmets, makeshift scarecrows, personalised license plates, and corn mazes.

Now, one graffiti artist has taken it to another level by spraying a mural of Braden Holtby outside the Capitals goaltender’s hometown of Lloydminster.

The story behind it is truly inspiring.

Graffiti artist honors Evgeny Kuznetsov with Stanley Cup mural in hometown of Chelyabinsk

In August, Evgeny Kuznetsov will have his day with the Stanley Cup. And I think I found the perfect place for the first-line center to take the championship trophy for a photo.

Graffiti artist @1947.art painted this mural of Kuzy honoring his Stanley Cup victory. The art was created days after the former Traktor Chelyabinsk star won his first championship in June 2018.

There’s a Mural Dedicated to Evgeny Kuznetsov in Moscow

For five years, Evgeny Kuznetsov made a name for himself in Russia, dominating the KHL with his hometown team Traktor Chelyabinsk. Three NHL seasons later, Kuznetsov is fifth in scoring (66) and leads the Capitals in points. He even made his first NHL All-Star Game in 2015-16.

To honor Kuznetsov’s success, Bauer Russia painted a mural of Kuzy at their office in Riga Ice Land, an ice skating rink in Moscow. I know this because the hockey equipment manufacturer posted a photo of a tiny mite posing in front of it on Instagram.
