Last week, Michal Kempny underwent surgery to repair a torn left hamstring, which ruled him out of the Capitals’ postseason as it put his recovery at four to six months.
That meant that the Capitals will be without one of their top defensemen during playoffs. Devastated, one Caps fan brought a sign to warmups ahead of Saturday’s game against the Islanders and offered up her own hamstring as a sacrifice.
“Michal Kempny can have my hamstring,” one sign read. “Toss me a puck if you miss Michal Kempny.”
On Sunday, Kempny accepted that offer.
