On Sunday, the Caps appeared to have two different parties on their scheduled day off: a team holiday celebration and a belated birthday bash for Nicklas Backstrom. While we don’t know many details, what we do know can be attributed to budding videographer Alex Ovechkin and his wife Nastya Ovechkina.

We already knew that John Carlon’s son Lucca was going to be a hockey player one day. Now we know that he has a bright future as a goalie.

The Washington Capitals had an day off today, which means Kettler was empty. What is the best thing that can happen on an empty rink? If you guessed “when the Caps Dads from come out in full force for a day of babies and skating,” you guessed correctly.
What you probably didn’t guess was that Tom Wilson would also join with a baby he absolutely stole. Just kidding, it’s baby Vince Backstrom, but still it’s fun to imagine Tom Wilson in a Baby’s Day Out situation.

I have a bold prediction that I need to share right now: Lucca Carlson, John Carlson’s adorable son/mini-me, will be an NHL player.
Don’t believe me? Check out video Lucca’s first day at camp and tell me I’m wrong.
The heat index was 105°F in Washington DC today so Andre Burakovsky did what any sane person would do.
The Burracuda retreated back to its natural habitat, jumping into the pool with the Carlson family. Burakovsky recently returned stateside from his home country of Sweden.
Following in the footsteps of Karl Alzner and TJ Oshie last season, John Carlson and his wife Gina took their son Lucca to Disney World.
During the Caps game against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night, Caps fans in attendance were treated to the newest Caps bobblehead, which they’ve dubbed the #BobbleBeast.
While Tom Wilson is still salty about losing the bobblehead election to Braden Holtby, penguin-hating Lucca Carlson seems just fine with the outcome. (more…)

Joining Caps defenseman John Carlson in Tampa for this weekend’s road trip are his wife Gina and son Lucca. Gina and Lucca spent the afternoon at the Lowry Park Zoo, which is where we learned that penguin-hating runs in the family.

Although the Caps won 5-0 against the Flyers in a matinee on Sunday, John Carlson had every reason to be bummed after the nationally-televised game. He suffered a lower-body injury and left after the first period, missing all of the goals that his teammates scored in quick succession.
Despite this, I’m sure he had the biggest smile on his face after this adorable greeting from his son Lucca in the belly of Verizon Center.
