The Washington Nationals played hockey out on the ice after the Capitals game ended

The Washington Nationals went to the Washington Capitals game last night. The World Series champions, in the presence of such great partiers, let go of their inhibitions and the game became a wild house party. There was drinking, there was celebrating, and there was lots of half nudity.

So obviously, the best way to end the night was to let these players out on the ice, which is slippery, and let them play a dangerous sport that is new and foreign to them.

The Nationals played hockey, you guys.

The Washington Capitals defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-1 at Verizon Center Saturday night. Late in the game there were several chippy moments, including this fracas brilliantly captured by RMNB reader Jess Jensen.

A pitch to Washington football fans: Join the Capitals fan base and never look back

If you’ve been living under a rock, or you don’t spend any time on the internet, Thursday was a dramatic day for fans of the local D.C. football team. The NFL’s free agency period started and the Redskins didn’t disappoint. If you need a quick update on what happened, let me clue you in.

The team decided to not re-sign some pretty important players, so those players went to other teams. Their quarterback, Kirk Cousins, is allegedly dying to go to the 49ers for some reason and requested to be traded. The Redskins made it difficult for Cousins and it’s looking like he will stay, which is very awkward and kinda reminds me of that time I broke up with a boyfriend and he simply replied, “no”. They also fired their GM, Scot McCloughan, who didn’t make it to the NFL Combine to scout for some new talent due to taking care of some family matters. But, once McCloughan was fired, some sources decided to be wildly inappropriate and blame it on his alcoholism.

As Redskins fans, this has been an extremely tough time. People are fed up and they are calling into radio shows to say they’re done with the team, being really dramatic on twitter (mainly me but that’s not new), and even showing up at Redskins Park in Ashburn with pitchforks to protest.

But, Washington football fans, it’s important to remember there is always a silver lining. What if I told you there is a promiseland of sorts that you could retreat to? What if there was a place you could go to be a fan and not be ashamed of being a fan? Well folks, there is. The sport is hockey and your new team should be the Washington Capitals.

You Could Play Hockey in the Moat of the Proposed New Redskins Stadium

On Sunday night’s episode of “60 Minutes,” Danish architecture firm Bjarke Ingels Group unveiled its proposed design for a new stadium for the Washington Redskins. It resembles a mix between a haphazardly placed boardwalk and Chicago’s Cloud Gate (a.k.a. “The Bean”).

But if you look a little closer, you’ll see a great opportunity for hockey fans.

The renderings shows a surfer riding a gnarly wave in the stadium’s moat, a few sunbathers lounging on the beach, and some good-looking teens rollerskating in tank tops. But, for some reason, something about this doesn’t seem to fit . . . Oh, wait. Football season begins in September.

The Redskins’ fans would have about a month to enjoy this nice set-up before the Washington, D.C., weather sets in and turns that beautiful moat into a sheet of ice. Wait. A sheet of ice?!
