Capitals fan creates Nicklas Backstrom Funko Pop so Alex Ovechkin can have his vinyl best friend back

Over the last few years, Funko – a popular toymaker – has created five different Pops of Alex Ovechkin including a Chase figurine with the Stanley Cup. Three Of Ovechkin’s teammates have been immortalized in vinyl too, but none of them have been his longtime running mate, Nicklas Backstrom.

So Katherine (@JessamyGriffin), a Capitals fan living in Tokyo, decided to take matters literally into her own hands.

John Carlson’s Funko Pop now available on Fanatics

John Carlson has a new featured item in the Capitals Store on Fanatics just in time for the holidays.

The Norris Trophy finalist’s Funko Pop was added to the store this week and is available for $10.99. It’s listed as “Most Popular in Collectibles.”

Limited edition Alex Ovechkin Chase Funko Pops have hit the internet

In July, Funko announced its latest line of NHL Pops, which featured Capitals defenseman John Carlson.

The NHL line also included a Canada exclusive figurine of Alex Ovechkin in a white away jersey and an Ovi Chase Pop that has a miniaturized Stanley Cup inside. Chase Pops are rare variants of the originals that are usually printed at a rate of 1:6.

While these Ovi Pops are not available in US stores, both versions recently hit online stores like Amazon and eBay. Search eBay now for the Ovechkin Funko Chase Pop.

Funko releasing new POP! figurine of John Carlson and Chase POP! of Alex Ovechkin with Stanley Cup

John Carlson is being turned into a Funko POP! figurine while Alex Ovechkin is getting his fourth and fifth variants, which include a Chase POP! with the Stanley Cup.

Carlson becomes the fourth Capitals player to get the honor, joining Ovechkin, Braden Holtby, and TJ Oshie.

Funko announced the line of NHL POP!s shortly after noon on Thursday.

Sheogorath, Wes Johnson’s character from The Elder Scrolls, has been immortalized as a Funko POP!

Washington Capitals PA announcer Wes Johnson has long been the voice behind some iconic video game characters. And Thursday, Johnson received an honor only Capitals’ players Alex Ovechkin, Braden Holtby, and TJ Oshie have received. He was immortalized as a Funko POP! figurine.

Well… sort of.

Johnson’s cookey character from The Elder Scrolls, Sheogorath – the Daedric Prince of Madness, is available as a GameStop exclusive Funko POP! figurine. It’s available for preorder now and will be available in GameStop stores on May 26.

Alex Ovechkin played with his own Ovi Funko POP! figurine with son Sergei

A new Alex Ovechkin Funko POP! figurine was released Tuesday morning just in time for the Christmas holiday. The Fanatics Exclusive figurine, which you can purchase right here, includes Ovi’s gap-toothed smile and his yellow skate laces for the first time.

Tuesday night, Ovechkin got ahold of one of his own plastic clones and played with it with his son Sergei.

The Fanatics exclusive Alex Ovechkin Funko POP! figurine is now available

Fanatics released its exclusive Funko POP! figurine of Alex Ovechkin at 10 AM, Tuesday.

The Ovi POP! features Ovechkin’s iconic gap-toothed smile and yellow laces. It also rocks a Capitals third jersey and custom red and navy gloves. The figurine is available for $14.95 exclusively on Fanatics’ website.

A Fanatics spokesman tells RMNB that they expect the figurine to be very popular and sell quickly.

Funko has announced that they’re making Alex Ovechkin into a Funko POP! figurine again, but this time with his signature details.

Funko Ovi will have Human Ovi’s iconic gap-toothed smile and yellow laces. It also rocks a Capitals third jersey and custom red and navy gloves.

NHL mascots are the newest line of Funko POP! figurines

Look out, collectors. NHL mascots are the latest to get the Funko POP! treatment.

On Thursday, the company teased the release of the new collectibles with previews of six NHL mascots in figurine form: Gritty (Philadelphia Flyers), Tommy Hawk (Chicago Blackhawks), NJ Devil (New Jersey Devils), Blades (Boston Bruins), and Chance (Vegas Golden Knights). The last mascot, Toronto Maple Leafs’ Carlton, is only available through Canadian distributor Grosnor.

No formal release date was given for the NHL mascots line, just a mysterious “coming soon”.

While Funko has released a number of Capitals players figurines in the past, like TJ Oshie last year, it does not appear that Slapshot, the Capitals mascot, will be included in this first wave of Funko POP! mascots. That’s probably better for our wallets anyway.

Funko created ‘Wayne’s World’ POP! figurines of Wayne and Garth playing hockey

Funko is in the process of releasing their third volume of NHL hockey player figurines featuring Capitals forward TJ Oshie, but they also just announced a tribute to a a cult-classic movie.

Funko acquired a license with the movie Wayne’s World and has designed Wayne and Garth figurines as part of their POP! Movies series. They’re also selling a pair of Wayne and Garth figures playing hockey as a Target exclusive.
