Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored career goal number 767 on Tuesday against the New York Islanders. The goal made Ovi the new third-highest goal scorer in NHL history as he leaped above the legendary Jaromir Jagr.
The Capitals mic’d Ovi up for the game. Not only did they catch the historic goal and its ensuing celebration, but everything else in-between.

Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov admitted during training camp that he hoped to have a huge bounceback year in 2021-22. He also wanted to help Alex Ovechkin reach career milestones. Because he wanted to “be in that picture!”
Tuesday night, Kuznetsov finally got his wish. After one of the cleanest offensive zone faceoff wins of his career, Kuzy found Ovechkin off a set play. With a flick of the wrist, Ovechkin passed Jaromir Jagr for third on the NHL’s all-time goals list.
“Finally, Kuzy win good faceoff,” Ovechkin joked postgame. “Right on my stick.
“I just close my eyes and shoot.”
Jaromir Jagr posted a video congratulating Alex Ovechkin on Tuesday after the Russian forward passed the Czech legend for third on the NHL’s all-time goals list. Ovechkin is now the greatest European goal scorer of all time.
But maybe Jagr’s congratulatory comments were a threat too? Only Jagr!

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin just became the greatest European goal scorer of all time.
Ovechkin scored off a faceoff beating former teammate Semyon Varlamov. The goal was Ovechkin 767th of his career, giving him sole possession of third on the NHL’s goals list passing Jaromir Jagr.
Ovechkin passed Jagr in 477 fewer games played.
