St. Louis Blues break tradition, wear Stanley Cup patch during home opener

Hockey season officially started on Wednesday evening. While celebrating the banner raising ceremony, the St. Louis Blues broke tradition and wore a Stanley Cup patch on their jerseys.

While teams sell jerseys with Stanley cup champion patches, no team has worn a Stanley Cup-esque patch on a jersey during a banner raising ceremony. The Blues’ white patch was immediately noticeable on their bright blue jerseys.

Zdeno Chara played three Stanley Cup Final games with multiple jaw fractures

Zdeno Chara will be a Hockey Hall of Famer shortly after his career ends. Now, part of his story will include the toughness he exuded during the 2019 Stanley Cup Final at age 42.

At the Boston Bruins’ end-of-season media availability, Chara revealed that he played through multiple jaw fractures during Games Five, Six, and Seven of the championship series.

Bradley Beal cheers on hometown team St. Louis Blues in Stanley Cup victory: ‘The city needed this one!’

Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal is a hockey fan. He’s been spotted numerous times at Capitals games over the years, including Game One of the 2019 postseason. Beal has even befriended Capitals’ star center Evgeny Kuznetsov, repping Kuzy’s jersey before a Wizards game and even imitating Kuzy’s bird walk celebration.

But with the Capitals out of contention for the Stanley Cup, Beal was free to cheer on his hometown team, the St. Louis Blues. And cheer he did on social media.

Jim Halpert trolled Pam by bringing Roy to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final

In a painful twist, the 2019 Stanley Cup Final pitted The Office lovebirds Jim and Pam against each other.

Jenna Fischer, who plays Pam in the sitcom, grew up in St. Louis while John Krasinski, Jim, was born in Boston. The two actors have been playing up the rivalry and taking shots at each other online over the last few weeks.

Wednesday, the beef went next level, when Jim brought Roy, Pam’s old flame, to the game.

Troy Brouwer goes viral on Twitter for very astute observation about his former teams

It took the St. Louis Blues 52 years, but they finally won their first Stanley Cup on Wednesday night.

One of the first people to congratulate the Blues was one of their former players, Troy Brouwer, on Twitter.

Colton Parayko raises Stanley Cup with Laila Anderson during Blues championship celebration

Eleven-year-old Laila Anderson was at Game Seven of the Stanley Cup Final in Boston after a viral surprise from the St. Louis Blues. Laila has an extremely rare immune disease, HLH, that only affects 15 other children in the world and has kept her homebound. But on Tuesday, Laila’s mom told her the good news.

“What if I told you the Blues called and they want you at the game?”

“What? How?” Laila responded.

“Doctor said it was okay,” Mom replied.

“No, he didn’t. Mommy, no he didn’t,” the Blues superfan said breaking down into tears. “I’m going to Boston? Oh my god. Oh my god. I love you.”

Laila would ultimately prove to be the Blues’ good luck charm.

‘You’ll never forget your first’: Washington Capitals congratulate St. Louis Blues on first Stanley Cup

The Washington Capitals’ reign as Stanley Cup champions officially ended Wednesday night on the one-year anniversary of their Championship Parade. The St. Louis Blues defeated the Boston Bruins 4-1 in Game Seven to win the Stanley Cup for the first time in their history. Former Capitals Craig Berube and Zach Sanford will now get their names on the Stanley Cup.

After the game, the Capitals congratulated the Blues on their victory on Twitter.

Former Capitals Craig Berube and Zach Sanford become Stanley Cup champions with St. Louis Blues

It’s official. The Washington Capitals are no longer the reigning Stanley Cup champions.

The St. Louis Blues have defeated the Boston Bruins 4-1 in Game Seven, to take home their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. Craig Berube, the Blues head coach, and forward Zach Sanford are the latest former Capitals to get their names on the Stanley Cup.

Former Capitals head coach Bruce Cassidy and longtime forward Marcus Johansson were on the losing side with Boston.

The St. Louis Blues could win the Stanley Cup for the first time if they’re victorious in Game Six

It’s not often that adorable puppies, Barstool Sports, “Gloria,” sabotage, and country artist Lil Nas X all come up in the same conversation. All have played a part in a 2019 Stanley Cup Final, but have been overshadowed by the heavy-hitting and poor-refereeing that’s dominated the postgame discussions.
