The Washington Capitals added to their organizational forward depth again by signing center Josh Dunne to a one-year contract.

Dunne will be making $850k at both the NHL and AHL levels. The 27-year-old forward played the 2025-26 season with the Buffalo Sabres, even getting into two playoff games.

During the regular season, Dunne got into 34 games for the Sabres and recorded four points (1g, 3a). He was phenomenal in the faceoff circle for Buffalo, winning 54.1 percent of his draws, and also got into two fights.

Before last year, Dunne had spent most of his pro career in the AHL, playing for the Cleveland Monsters and Rochester Americans. His best pro season came in 2022-23, when he notched 37 points (20g, 17a) in 65 games for the Monsters.

Dunne was previously teammates with Capitals center Pierre-Luc Dubois while both were with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
