The Washington Capitals, fresh off a 5-2 blowout loss to the Montreal Canadiens, are in Sunrise to take on the Florida Panthers. The Panthers will be another difficult task as the 2023 Eastern Conference Champions are 31-15-4 on the season — sixth best in the NHL.
With the Capitals losers of five straight, Spencer Carbery will turn to Darcy Kuemper in net. The bench boss is also giving Matthew Phillips a sweater for the first time in a month. Midseason signing Ethan Bear will return to the lineup.
Tonight’s game is on Monumental Sports Network. Joe Beninati and Craig Laughlin have the call. Rasmus Sandin will be playing in his 200th career game.

Nick Cousins decks Mike Sgarbossa after a whistle drawing a huge crowd.
Tom Wilson just checked the bejesus out of Alex Ovechkin in the offensive zone after missing a Panthers player. NOT THE OVI, TOM.

The Panthers hit the post twice on the resulting power play but can’t score.
