In the first period of Washington’s first exhibition game, Alex Ovechkin has scored his first goal since March 9, which was also his most recent game. Seems like four months of rust have nothing on the Russian machine, whose power-play skill shot beat Petr Mrazek in the seven-hole.
If hockey’s back, then so too is the Ovi Shot from the Ovi Spot.

On his very next shift, Ovi authored a beautiful primary assist to Evgeny Kuznetsov to give the Capitals their second goal.
Ovechkin sat at 48 goals in the now-ended regular season, first in the league. This goal won’t count to the total, but it’s a nice reminder that hockey is back.
