Nicklas Backstrom hit the ice with his Washington Capitals teammates for the first time since the NHL’s Phase 2 began in early June.
The Capitals published a sponsored video of Backstrom doing drills and interacting with his teammates.

Backstrom’s return comes exactly 14 days after the Stanley Cup champion center flew back to North America from his native Sweden with former teammate Andre Burakovsky, suggesting Nicky quarantined at home before interacting with his teammates.
Other recent newbies on the ice include Jonas Siegenthaler and Carl Hagelin.
Capitals’ training camp is slated to open next week if the NHLPA approves the new CBA and return-to-play protocols.
With Backstrom back, the #Caps now have more than a dozen players participating in Phase 2. Ovechkin, Wilson, Holtby, Kuznetsov, Eller, Orlov, Hagelin, and Hathaway are also skating. Again, training camp is slated to open Monday.
