Brad Marchand just blew a game with the worst shootout attempt ever

The Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers were tied 5-5 after 65 minutes of hockey, and so they went to the shootout. Were the Bruins to win in the shootout, they’d keep pace with Washington for the best record in hockey.

One of the world’s best players, Brad Marchand, skated to center ice to keep his team alive.

And then he did the single worst shootout attempt we’ve ever seen.

Marchand… misses the puck completely. He just overskates it.

And now, in slo-mo.

Travis Konecny had scored on the prior attempt. So that was it. That was the game. Bruins lose. Good day, sir.

Technically, the NHL called Marchand’s attempt a deflection.

Ha. Marchand. What a loser.

(Marchand has 62 points so far this season, ranking him sixth in the NHL. His team leads the Atlantic Division.)

Loser.
