Nobody gets to go to bed at a normal hour quite yet. The Capitals are still on the night shift up in Canada this evening to face off against the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers are finishing their four-game homestand while the Caps are only halfway through their Canadian expedition. They still have to visit Calgary and Montreal before coming home to Capital One Arena on November 3rd.

- Nicklas Backstrom registered 600 assists, so of COURSE there was an emotional tribute video to make us all cry.
- If you’re reading this pregame, you probably already know that the Tom Wilson suspension has been upheld.
- Excuse me, but our very own Ian Oland got to have an amazing conversation with Mike Bolt, who is one of the keepers of the Stanley Cup. You’ll want to read just to laugh at the typos on the Cup.
- Olie Kolzig is a way better person than I will ever be.
- Why be a fan of any other team when the Capitals have Pat Sajack, Slapshot, and DJ Pauly D? Find a more iconic trio, I’ll wait.
- Braden Holtby gave his teammates a concert and I don’t think we talked about it enough. Maybe it was because I was out of town, but I feel like we could’ve lingered on this subject a little while longer.
- “You guys need to get over your love of Nate Schmidt.” No. Nate Schmidt forever. He’s makin’ moooney.
- One Alex (Ovechkin) presenting a Stanley Cup Championship ring to another Alex (Chaisson). It’s an “Alex World”, folks, and I’m thrilled to be living in it.

Spooky Recommendation
Aside from reading bad candy takes, what you can really do to scare yourself this Halloween is watch Netflix’s new show “The Haunting of Hill House”. I keep forgetting the name of it, so I keep calling it “spooky Hill Country Barbecue” show. It’s just a good, ol’ fashioned haunted house story with a bunch of emotions you weren’t ready to feel. Also, it’s a CRIME that Carla Gugino isn’t aging at all.
