Capitals congratulate Knights for successful season with full page ad in Las Vegas Review-Journal

The Capitals are celebrating their Stanley Cup win with a Championship parade on Tuesday. However, they also wanted to pay tribute to their opponent from the Final, the Vegas Golden Knights, on their incredibly successful inaugural season.

Per ESPN senior writer Arash Markazi, the Capitals took out a full page ad in the Las Vegas Review-Journal to congratulate them and say what an honor is was to compete against the Knights in the Final.

The ad features an image of goaltenders Braden Holtby and Marc-André Fleury from the Game Five handshake line. It is accompanied by what is, essentially, a love letter to Vegas’ inaugural season.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS
On the most successful inaugural season in the history of professional sports.

World class ownership, front office, coaching staff, and people.

A magnificent team of talented, hard-working players and stars.

A fantastic venue filled with passionate, loud and proud fans.

It was an honor to compete against you in the Stanley Cup Final.

You are truly VEGAS STRONG.

The Capitals organization weren’t the only ones to pay tribute to Vegas. Jay Brooke, co-founder of Caps Road Crew, penned an open letter to the Knights and their fanbase to congratulate them on a great season, and the best Stanley Cup Final in years.

What a really classy move by the Capitals and their fans.
