It was literally lightning in Washington DC as the Lightning crushed the Caps in Game Three

The Washington Capitals dominated the Tampa Bay Lightning in Games One and Two of the Eastern Conference Final, outscoring the Bolts 10-4 in Florida. As Game Three shifted to Washington, D.C., Mother Nature has made an appearance and is trying to inspire her favorite hockey team.

As the teams started the game at Capital One Arena in the eight o’clock hour, a line of storms moved into town, knocking out power and causing flash flooding. And, oh yeah, there was a lot of lightning.

As the Lightning raced out to a commanding 3-0 lead, this is what was happening outside.

Here’s the US Capitol building.

Here’s the White House.

And here’s the Washington Monument.

Nearly four inches of rain fell in nearby Frederick, Maryland, in just one hour, causing flooding downtown.

The previous night, a derecho flowed through the DMV area, causing Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin to lose power at his house. WTOP’s Dave Dildine captured this viral photo.

I guess Caps fans should put the brooms away.
