Pierre-Luc Dubois and Matt Roy still aren’t ready to return for the Washington Capitals.
Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery revealed that neither player will dress for the Caps in the club’s Wednesday night matchup with the Montreal Canadiens. Dubois has missed the past two games with an illness and hasn’t resumed skating yet, while Roy has missed the last four games with a lower-body injury, but did skate on his own earlier on Wednesday.
“No update (on Dubois),” Carbery said. “I would call him day-to-day. He did not skate today.”
According to RMNB’s Katie Adler, Carbery didn’t commit to anything else about the team’s lineup, other than Charlie Lindgren starting in net. He hinted that reporters may need to get their pens and paper out as they watched warmups.
The Capitals lost 4-2 to the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh last night and made the trip back to DC for the second half of a back-to-back against the Habs. Alex Tuch, who is tied with Boone Jenner for the team lead in goals (3), was a game-time decision against the Hurricanes.
Ivan Miroshnichenko and Dylan McIlrath were the only healthy players who didn’t receive a sweater against Carolina. Miroshnichenko has not yet made his season debut, while McIlrath lost his lineup spot to recent-recall Justin Holl.
Lindgren will face his former team in his second start of the season. He made his first start against the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 3, making 27 saves in a 3-1 loss.
Montreal comes into Wednesday’s contest as winners of their last two games, including a 4-3 shootout victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday. The game will also be the first time brothers Cole and Lane Hutson have faced each other in the NHL.
