Pierre-Luc Dubois played just 7:02 of ice time against the Pittsburgh Penguins before leaving Saturday’s game early due to injury.
The 27-year-old pivot was hurt after crashing into the boards behind Pittsburgh’s net with 13:58 remaining in the second period. Dubois earned the primary assist on a Ryan Leonard goal before careening hard into the end wall.
Later in the second period, the Capitals announced that Dubois would not return to the game due to an upper-body injury.
Dubois was lined up on the team’s third line again, playing between Connor McMichael and Ryan Leonard.
After the game, Spencer Carbery said that the Capitals would know more about Dubois’ status later.
“Yeah, we’ll find out more tonight,” Carbery said. “I’ll talk to Serbs [on] that. So I’ll give you an update tomorrow.”
Dubois has missed 52 total games this season due to injuries, his longest absence coming after he had surgery on his abdominal and adductor muscles in November. The Capitals are 12-7-2 since he returned.
In 28 total games this year, Dubois has recorded 18 points (5g, 13a).
