Tom Wilson posted an NHL career-high 21 penalty minutes in the Washington Capitals’ 7-4 victory over the Utah Mammoth on Thursday night, but it appears he could have received more.
With 1:14 remaining in the second period, Wilson leveled Mammoth forward Jack McBain, the player who broke Alex Ovechkin’s leg last season, with a huge hit after the Mammoth centerman watched his pass in the defensive zone.

Wilson was given a two-minute interference minor — a penalty that would extend into the third period — and frustrations from the bodycheck would boil over.
Three seconds after Wilson exited the penalty box, Mammoth forward Lawson Crouse instigated a fight with Wilson to stick up for McBain. Crouse was assessed a two-minute instigator minor, a five-minute major for fighting, and a 10-minute misconduct, while Wilson received only a five-minute major for fighting.

While in the penalty box, McBain skated over to Wilson to trash-talk. Wilson blew him a kiss back, as well as to Crouse.

The gesture, which appeared to elude officials, incensed McBain as he was held back by three different referees from entering the penalty box. McBain was then given a 10-minute misconduct for his actions, while Wilson didn’t receive one himself.
Wilson’s kiss adds to his incredible repertoire of taunting throughout his career. The HOF list of mocking includes the sarcastic thumbs up, crybaby motion, sassy dive, head too big for a helmet act, and faux-tough guy routine, which he’s done several different ways.
