TJ Oshie is headed back to the Olympics, but this time as an analyst.

Thursday, the former Capitals forward was announced as one of 11 hires for NBC’s Olympic hockey coverage this February. The 2026 Winter Olympics, which are being held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy, will see NHL players return to the international tournament for the first time since 2014, where TJ Oshie became TJ Sochi.

“Excited to join the @NBCOlympics crew for the 2026 Winter @Olympics!!” Oshie wrote on X.

The broadcasting job is Oshie’s third since retiring from hockey last June. Oshie was hired by Monumental Sports Network as a contributor in mid-September and came to an agreement with ESPN in October to be an NHL studio and game analyst.

While Oshie was a memorable player during his career, the moment that made him a household name in hockey circles was in the Olympics. Oshie scored four times in six shootout attempts, leading the United States to a 3-2 victory over Russia in pool play at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

NBC’s play-by-play will be led by Kenny Albert, who has been assigned to do Team USA men’s and women’s games and the medal rounds of both tournaments. Albert will be joined in the booth for men’s games by analyst Eddie Olczyk. Brian Boucher returns for his third consecutive Winter Games with NBC Olympics and will share his analysis “Inside the Glass.” All three are part of Turner Sports’ coverage of the NHL.

Kathryn Tappen will be the on-site reporter for Team USA men’s and women’s games and medal-round competition.

Former player AJ Mleczko will join Albert in the booth for women’s games, while three-time Olympic gold medalist Jen Botterill will serve “Inside The Glass.”

Other contributors will include Brendan Burke and Chris Vosters (Oplay-by-play in the men’s and women’s hockey tournament), Anson Carter (analyst), and Angela Ruggiero, a four-time Olympic medal winner with Team USA.

RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHLPA, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
