The Washington Capitals may be without Tom Wilson against the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Spencer Carbery labeled Wilson a game-time decision during his pregame media availability. Wilson took a hard cross-check to the ribs/side from Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ryan Graves on Saturday, leaving the game halfway through the third period.

“He will be a game-time decision,” Carbery said.

Wilson scored his single-season, career-high 25th goal against the Penguins before departing due to injury. The 30-year-old winger has 43 points (25g, 18a) in 56 games this season for Washington.

Jakub Vrana, who has not played since January 6, is the only extra forward on the Capitals’ roster. Dylan McIlrath and Alex Alexeyev are the two extra defensemen.

Charlie Lindgren will make his first start since the NHL returned from the 4 Nations Face-Off. The 31-year-old netminder last played on February 6 against the Philadelphia Flyers, making 19 stops in a 4-3 win. He is 12-9-3 this year with a 2.63 goals-against average, a .902 save percentage, and one shutout.

The Oilers are also playing the second half of a back-to-back after dropping a game 6-3 to the Flyers on Saturday. Washington beat Edmonton 3-2 on the road on January 21, but Connor McDavid did not dress for that game and will be in Edmonton’s lineup on Sunday.

Update (12:40 pm): Wilson is in for the Capitals.
