Washington Capitals defense prospect Cam Allen was suspended by the Ontario Hockey League on Tuesday.

“The Ontario Hockey League today announced that London Knights player Cam Allen has been suspended pending the outcome of a League review into the events of February 8, 2025 when he was charged by the London Police Service with offences related to impaired driving,” the OHL wrote in a statement.

The talented 20-year-old rearguard was allegedly involved in a single-vehicle collision while driving impaired on Saturday morning and left the scene of the accident.

Allen will be charged with impaired driving, impaired operation exceeding legal blood-alcohol levels, failing to remain at the scene of a crash, failing to report an accident, and having a blood-alcohol concentration above zero as a novice driver.

Allen is scheduled to appear in London court on March 6, 2025.

The Capitals signed Allen to a three-year, entry-level contract in July. Allen, who is coached by legendary former Capital Dale Hunter, has 42 points (11g, 31a) in 45 OHL games this season.
