The Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets revealed newly-designed sweaters on Thursday for their upcoming Stadium Series game scheduled for March 1 at Ohio Stadium, home of the Buckeyes.
The visiting Red Wings will wear a simple white and red design featuring Detroit in script text inspired by automotive insignia. Meanwhile, the host Blue Jackets are going all out, rocking dark navy sweaters with the team’s iconic cannon logo on the crest. The logo, colored with new metallic silver and red accents, is inspired from the Blue Jackets alternate logo and their physical, loud-a** cannon at Nationwide Arena.

The Blue Jackets’ design draws inspiration from the uniforms worn by the Union Army during the Civil War and features several military-inspired details.
Per the NHL:
- A chevron sleeve stripe denoting the rank insignia of the era
- Shoulder featuring a new “CBJ” mark surrounding two crossed hockey sticks, a nod to the unit designation pins worn on the front of soldier’s slouch caps.

Perhaps the most brilliant add is the team’s Ohio-shaped patch that highlights the team’s on-ice leadership. A thin red border outlines the silhouette of the state while the C and A letters, that designate the team’s captain and alternate captains, are featured in the middle with a bold white font.

The inside back neck also features Columbus’s wordmark in conjunction with a buckeye leaf pattern, the state tree of Ohio. The team’s pants include the star from the team’s primary logo while the helmet features an oversized metallic application team logo and player number.

While a CBJ logo sits on one shoulder, the 2025 Stadium Series logo is a patch on the other. The design is sensational and features the Ohio script font.

Another hidden detail is the text 2025 Stadium Series printed on the inside back hem of the sweater.

“That’s an awesome jersey,” the Blue Jackets’ Sean Monahan said when he first saw the design.
“It’s cool jerseys,” Kirill Marchenko added. “Oh my god.”
The Red Wings’ sweaters, while simple, also feature some incredible subtle details as well. The wordmark and back numbers have laser-perforated details visually consistent with a car’s upholstered leather interior.

There’s also a hem loop label featuring the honorary team mascot, an octopus.

Finally, the team’s helmet feature an oversized Red Wings wheel logo on the sides.

The uniforms were designed by Fanatics who received “input and alignment from both teams and the league.” The jerseys are available for pre-order exclusively at all Blue Jackets and Red Wings team store locations. In addition, Blue Jackets fans can pre-order their jersey via the thebluelineonline.com.
The Red Wings-Blue Jackets’ Stadium Series matchup will be the league’s 43rd regular-season outdoor game.
