Spencer Carbery spoke to the media after the Washington Capitals’ morning skate on Saturday. While he was taking questions, there was a loud scream in the background, which temporarily stopped the interview.
Just go ahead and watch for yourself.

(Distant scream)
(Loud thud)
(Carbery looks over in that direction.)
Spencer Carbery: M’mkay… okay!… Who is that?… Oh, Al.
(Even louder distant scream)
(Louder thud)
(A smiling Carbery waves.)
Spencer Carbery: You alright?
Alex Alexeyev (from a distance): I’m good.
(Carbery smiles huge.)
Alex Alexeyev and Dylan McIlrath, who have been primarily healthy-scratched this season and used in reserve, were doing some hard off-ice work with medicine balls.
Not only does the moment highlight how dedicated the two defensemen are despite not playing much, but it also shows how Spencer Carbery handles absolute absurdity like this: with joy and a smile on his face.
Imagine past Caps coaches who ran the ship tightly, like Peter Laviolette, Barry Trotz, Dale Hunter, and Adam Oates. Would they handle the situation the same way at the lectern? I’m not so sure. Bruce Boudreau probably would.
Moments like these are why it’s so easy to root for the Capitals, especially Spencer Carbery this season and perhaps even too why they’re a first place team.
Carbs, never change.
