The Washington Capitals’ coaching staff was named the NHL Coaches’ Association’s Coaching Staff of the Month on Monday morning.
Washington went 10-4-1 during November, finishing with the second-most standings points (21) and the third-best points percentage in the NHL (.700). After their 6-5 win over the New Jersey Devils to end the month, the Capitals rose to the top of the Metropolitan Division and Eastern Conference.

The Capitals’ current four-game winning streak is the longest in the NHL, and they finished November with a plus-22 goal differential. The team also went 4-2 without their captain and leading goal scorer, Alex Ovechkin.
Washington finished with the most goals of any team during November (64), the second-best power play (32.6%), and the fourth-best penalty kill (84.4%). The Capitals were road warriors during the month, finishing 7-1 in their games away from Capital One Arena.
The club also finished the month playing some of their best five-on-five hockey of the season. In their last five games at five-on-five, they posted the best shot attempt percentage (58.5%) in the NHL.
Spencer Carbery finished seventh in Jack Adams Award voting last season, receiving four first-place votes. He’s on pace to vastly outdo that performance if the Capitals keep up their play from the first two months of the 2024-25 campaign.
