Before the playoffs began, David Pastrnak called Tom Wilson the best dang goalscorer in the league. So naturally, when the Capitals and Bruins faced off against each other, it was Wilson who got the best of Pasta.
Wilson scored the game-winning goal 2:32 into the third period to lead the Capitals to a 2-1 victory.
Wilson scored on a semi-breakaway after Ilya Kovalchuk chipped the puck ahead off the boards and into the offensive zone. A speedy Wilson got to the biscuit first and sent his shot off the post and in past Tuukka Rask.

“It was a bit of a broken play,” Wilson said after the game. “Just kind of got on my horse and tried to get to the puck first and had a chance to throw it on net. Big goal. Just kind of trying to build on our game here and obviously a big win tonight.”
The goal put the Capitals up 2-0. After giving up a goal to Jake DeBrusk halfway through the third, the Capitals held on to win 2-1.

Beyond his goal, Wilson had a typical game, tallying three shots, three hits, and three blocked shots, including some chirping late in the game to close the game out.

The Capitals, thanks to Tom, will now face the New York Islanders in the first round of the playoffs as the number three seed in the East.
