Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston is reporting that Las Vegas will be one of the hub cities selected to host the NHL’s 24-team playoff.
T-Mobile Arena is the site where the Washington Capitals won their first Stanley Cup in 2018.
John Katsilometes of the Las Vegas Review-Journal added that MGM Resorts International is keeping several hotels off the market. The two likely destinations for teams are the Vdara Hotel & Spa and Delano as the NHL asked for nongaming, nonsmoking hotels.

Johnston also reports that the NHL prefers Toronto to be the other hub city, but it depends on quarantine rulings by the Canadian federal government.
The official naming of the NHL’s postseason hub cities are expected at the latest by June 22, but Johnston believes that the league will announce it sooner so teams can make their travel plans ahead of Phase 3, training camps, that will begin on July 10. On May 26, Gary Bettman said the league would announce the hub cities within three weeks, which could mean the news could come between June 16 and June 23.
12 teams from the Eastern and Western Conferences will each play in one hub city. Other cities that are being considered include Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, and Vancouver.
