Capitals first-round pick Connor McMichael had a huge 2019-20 season. The prospect center was fantastic during Caps’ training camp, made Canada’s gold medal-winning 2020 World Junior Championship team out of nowhere, and scored six hat tricks for the OHL London Knights during the regular season.
McMichael, who scored 47 goals and tallied 102 points in 52 games, was named to the OHL’s Second All-Star Team on Wednesday, just missing out on the first team.

Marco Rossi, a center for the Ottawa 67s, beat McMichael out, tallying 18 more points and registering a plus-69 in four more games.
Former Capitals head coach Dale Hunter was also named to the OHL’s Second All-Star Team while McMichael’s teammates, Alec Regula and Ryan Merkley, made the third team.

Despite his dominant season in junior, McMichael will likely spend the 2020-21 season back in the OHL as he’ll be 19-years-old and not eligible to play with the AHL Hershey Bears. The Capitals also have centers Nicklas Backstrom, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Lars Eller, and Nic Dowd all signed through the 2021-22 season.
