The Washington Capitals’ 5-4 (OT) comeback win against the San Jose Sharks was insane. How insane? It’s the first time in the Capitals’ 46-year history the team has overcome a two-goal deficit in the final minute of regulation.
The NHL’s PR announced the news on Twitter.

There’s more. The Capitals are the seventh different team in NHL history to overcome a multi-goal deficit in the final minute.

The Capitals accomplished a feat that has only done six times before in NHL history.
Today’s Capitals win marked the sixth time in NHL history a team won a game after allowing an empty net goal and the first time since Oct. 15, 2016 (Vancouver 2, Calgary 1, SO).

According to NBC Sports Washington, the game also marked the sixth time during the 2019-20 season that the Capitals have come back from a two-goal deficit during a game to win.
