We made it! It’s the final game for the year of 2019 and the Capitals are home hosting and early showdown against the New York Islanders.
If any of you are going out tonight, do not drink and drive. I don’t have any power to ban you from everything, but I will ban you from my life. Be safe and have fun! If you’re not going out, I hope you get some good rest or get to watch something good on TV.
Game starts at 1 PM, and Good Tweet Pete will have your recap.

Projected Lines
Thanks to Samantha Pell from the Washington Post for the Caps practice lines from yesterday. We’ve got some folks that are sick (Oshie, Kempny, and myself), some that are injured (Djoos and Wilson). Coach Reirden said he hasn’t decided on a starting goaltender yet:
Ovechkin – Backstrom – Wilson
Vrana – Kuznetsov – Panik
Hagelin – Eller – Boyd
Leipsic – Dowd – Hathaway
Siegenthaler – Carlson
Orlov – Jensen
Djoos – Gudas

Storylines
- Thinking good thoughts for Jake Guentzel after he had a nasty crash into the boards.
- A lil’ treat from Pete: Eight great days that shaped the Caps’ decade!
- VOTE FOR TJ OSHIE!
- John Carlson and Braden Holtby have been named to the 2020 All-Star Game. Great to see the boys making us so proud 🙂
- Huge surprise, John Tortorella is very mad.
- Connor McMichael has officially been promoted to Team Canada’s first line!
- Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom are the heroes of this decade. I won’t hear otherwise, thank you for your time.
Elyse’s Favorite 2019 Eats
I listed my favorite reads and shows from 2019, but I don’t have any cool favorite games like Chris and Peter. So, instead, these are some of my favorite things I ate in 2019:
- The Macaroni and Cheese with jalapenos from Heidi’s House by the Side of the Road. Takes 25 minutes to make and comes in a baby skillet. I go alone with a book and order a really good glass of wine. One of my favorite things when I am sad.
- My mother made a standing rib roast on Christmas Eve and it changed my life. I was really sad when I was full.
- Xi’an Famous Foods. I get the N4 (Stewed Pork Hand-Ripped Noodles), spicy. It’s one of my favorite things in the universe.
- Bolton’s Hot Chicken Sandwich from Nashville, Tennessee. My sister was a dummy and ordered the super hot one, not realizing that it is already very hot.
- Sauteed Shrimp & Holy Trinity in a spiced red creole sauce over rice from Orlandeaux’s Cafe in Shreveport, Louisiana. It was a dish that I was too excited to be eating that I gave myself a headache.
- A lot of Thai food from Up Thai.
- A bag of Walker’s salt and vinegar crisps in Glasgow at 3am when I was drunk and almost cried because I couldn’t find any food, but then I remembered that my AirBnb host left the crisps for me as a “welcome” gift with a bottle of Irn Bru (but that is bad soda that tastes like bubble gum).
