With his 681st career goal, Alex Ovechkin has partially redeemed an otherwise miserable road game with the Boston Bruins.
Partially.
The Caps hadn’t been hurting for offense against the Bruins, but goalie Tuukka Rask had an answer for everything they offered. That was the case when Tom Wilson had the puck and an open lane in the second period. Wilson attempted three or four attempts before a rebound made its way to Ovechkin in the high slot. With some quick moves, Ovechkin settled the puck and beat Rask high stick side.

Ovechkin now has 23 goals on the season and if he can score five more goals tonight, the Caps will take the lead in the game.
Alex Ovechkin scores to make the game 5-1, that marks his 23rd of the season. He's now four goals shy of passing Teemu Selanne (684) for the 11th most goals in NHL history.

With that goal, Alex Ovechkin has passed Marcel Dionne for the sixth-most goals on the road in NHL history (Ovechkin: 347 road goals).
