The Washington Capitals like to celebrate round number accomplishments, but sometimes important milestones happen even without zeroes.
For instance, Tom Wilson scored his 12th goal of the season in the third period of the Capitals’ 5-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
It was Wilson’s 69th career goal. Very nice!

The Perfect 10 put the puck into the empty net after taking a pass from TJ Oshie. As the puck approached Nicklas Backstrom, the Swedish center unselfishly lifted up his stick so it’d go to the first-line winger.
To reach the 69-goal mark, Wilson has hit double-digits in goals for the last three seasons (14, 22, 12). During his previous four seasons, Wilson scored a combined 21 times.

Congratulations, Tom. You now have the same amount of goals that Alan May scored with the Capitals in his illustrious career. I hope you take a photo with the milestone puck.
