For the first time in more than two years, Nathan Walker has scored an NHL goal. If that sounds bad, keep in mind he’s only played twelve games since the last that happened. The winsome, undersized Aussie has fought for a roster spot in Washington, Edmonton, and now St. Louis. Looks like he’s finally winning that fight.
It is my distinct privilege to introduce you all to Nathan Walker, NHL player and hockey goal scorer.
With the Blues tied 1-1 with the Penguins halfway into the second period, Walker saw a loose puck from Jaden Schwartz. Despite facing the daunting presence of elite Pittsburgh defender Jack Johnson, Walker managed to swat the puck in mid-air and beat Matt Murray.

He was rightfully excited.

Walker’s goal gave the Blues a lead they would not relinquish. They beat the Penguins 5-2.

(Nice typography on that tweet by the way.)
Walker was named first star of the game and interviewed after the win.
.@Panger40 to Nathan Walker: "You can skate like the wind. Have you always been that great of a skater?"
Walker: "Yeah, I'm only 5-8 ½ or so, so I've got to make up for it somewhere." #stlblues pic.twitter.com/JdeTwrNRon— Bally Sports Midwest (@BallySportsMW) December 1, 2019
“We were joking around,” Walker said. “Hopefully, I can stay on side this game.” Walker is referring to his goal on Friday night, which was washed out for being offside.

Walker played for the 2017-18 Caps before being claimed by the Oilers in 2018. He played two games for Edmonton before being reassigned. Last summer, Walker, 25, earned a roster spot on the Blues from training camp. Saturday was his second game in a Blues uniform.
So I guess you could say Nathan had a … g’day.
(I’m sorry.)
