The Washington Capitals got right back on track after seeing their 13 game point streak end on Friday night. Their 3-2 shootout win over the Boston Bruins was a sight for sore eyes after their surprisingly awful effort against the Montreal Canadiens the night prior.
The Caps out-shot the Bruins 44 to 23 and out-attempted them at five-on-five 47 to 31.

- This was a downright dominant effort that was almost spoiled by Jaroslav Halak. Let me know if you’ve read that story before. At five-on-five the Caps thoroughly controlled the shot attempt (60.3-percent), scoring chance (60.5-percent), and high danger chance (60-percent) battles. This was a team looking to respond to a very bad effort from the night before and boy did they.
- The Caps have now won 15 of their last 16 games against the Bruins. The Bruins have been a very good team for really the balance of that. Craziness.
- John Carlson is at it again, extending his point streak to six games with an assist on Travis Boyd‘s goal. I really hope he somehow keeps this pace up and blows the Norris voting out of the water.
Braden Holtby has recorded a point in each of his last 10 starts (9-0-1).

- Is there a better team than the Caps with the goalie pulled? TJ Oshie‘s tying goal in the final minute with Braden Holtby on the bench was already the fourth extra attacker goal of the season for the squad.
- In my eyes, Oshie overall was the best skater on the ice in a white sweater (could make a very good argument for Jakub Vrana). He posted six shots on goal, eight individual shot attempts, six individual scoring chances, and two individual high danger chances.
- Dmitry Orlov carried the load for Caps defensemen when it comes to ice time (29:28). At five-on-five alone he played 24:22 which was over seven minutes more than his closest teammate, Carlson (17:18) played. In those minutes with Dima on the ice at even strength, the Caps saw a plus-18 shot attempt differential, plus-8 scoring chance differential, and a plus-1 high danger chance differential.
