Bottom six forwards Nic Dowd and Carl Hagelin will miss Friday night’s game against the Montreal Canadiens. Both forwards have upper-body injuries.
Hagelin practiced in a light blue no-contact jersey during the morning skate while Dowd did not at all. The injuries leave the Capitals with only 17 healthy skaters on their roster currently, necessitating a callup later today.
“There’ll be a recall made from Hershey for a player tonight. We’re going to meet and make that decision here in the next little while,” Todd Reirden said.

Including tonight, Hagelin will have missed the last four games and has been injured since last Thursday – eight days ago. This will be the first game Dowd’s missed since suffering a deep laceration in his left hand Wednesday against Philadelphia.
“[Dowd] will not be playing tonight,” Reirden said. “He’ll be day to day with an upper-body.” In regards to Hagelin, Reirden said that he’s “day to day non-contact until the trainers tell me otherwise. That’s how it’ll be with him.”
Reirden was unsure if either player will play tomorrow against the Boston Bruins. The pairing of games will be the Capitals’ third back-to-back of the season so far.
Reirden said the team will see how both players respond tonight, but unsure if either will be in vs Boston on Saturday. https://t.co/Zcw0lIUiPv

Both Dowd and Hagelin are day to day. Likely they will both miss tomorrow's game as well, per Reirden
